Barbara Mertz (September 29, 1927- August 8, 2013) was an American author who writes under the pseudonyms Elizabeth Peters and Barbara Michaels.

One sequence of novels features Jacqueline Kirby - a librarian with a very large purse and a knack for solving mysteries, who inter alia features in The 'Murders of Richard III'.
